Kentucky Arena To Implement Verint IP Video Management System

Verint Systems Inc. recently announced that KFC Yum! Center is implementing the Nextiva IP video management platform from Verint Video Intelligence Solutions. Verint, along with its industry-leading technology and integration partners EMC and Orion Systems Group, is delivering the physical security solution for the new $252 million, 22,000-seat basketball and multi-purpose arena on the Ohio River waterfront in Louisville, Ky.

The KFC Yum! Center is operated by the Kentucky State Fair Board and is part of a $450 million project that will include a 975-car parking structure and floodwall. The University of Louisville basketball women’s and men’s teams will be the primary tenants in the arena complex, though conventions, ice shows and other collegiate sport championships also will use the facility. KFC Yum! Center is being constructed by M.A. Mortenson, and upon its scheduled completion in October, it is expected to be the fifth largest college basketball arena in the nation.

To meet stringent security requirements for the new arena, the Kentucky State Fair Board sought a powerful, reliable and highly scalable physical security solution combining IP video technology with an advanced storage platform.

The implementation in process includes Verint’s Nextiva IP Video platform -- including video management software and IP cameras -- that leverages EMC CLARiiON networked storage system.

“The Kentucky State Fair Board wants to be at the forefront of technology in our state-of-the-art facilities,” said Alicia Dunlap, director of division of information technology for the Kentucky State Fair Board. “At KFC Yum! Center, we want all athletes, sporting personnel, performers, event staff, fans and visitors to feel safe and secure both within and around the facility. We believe the Verint video security system will help us deter threats, and fully meet the expectations and security requirements of the public and other stakeholders.”

The Nextiva platform will perform in conjunction with the high-performance EMC CLARiiON storage to continuously record and archive video data for viewing incidents in real time from virtually anywhere. Together, EMC and Verint help improve management of video surveillance data from capture through monitoring, analyzing, protecting, securing, archiving and evidence authentication through a jointly engineered, IP-based software solution.

“Verint is pleased to be working with partners EMC and Orion to deliver the comprehensive, best-in-class Nextiva solution to help enhance safety, increase awareness and mitigate risk at the new KFC Yum! Center,” said Elan Moriah, president, Verint Video Intelligence Solutions and Verint Witness Actionable Solutions. “As a leading provider of networked IP video security technology, we’re committed to the ongoing development of solutions that help outstanding facilities, like the KFC Yum! Center, advance safety and security, and enhance the effectiveness of their operations.”
