Brazilian Army Joins Forces with Panda Security to Combat Cyber-Warfare

Panda Security, The Cloud Security Company, today announced it has signed an agreement with the Brazilian Army to support the training of its operational agents involved in the fight against cyber-terrorism, digital crime and strategic intervention for cyber-warfare.

Panda Security also will provide protection to 37,500 computers belonging to the Army's Military Commands around the country with Panda Security for Enterprise, the company's comprehensive endpoint protection solution for all types of unknown malware, targeted attacks and Internet threats.

As part of this agreement, the Army's Cyber-Warfare Communication Center and PandaLabs, the anti-malware laboratory of Panda Security, will work together to train those involved in the scientific and forensic investigation of cyber-crime. The collaboration will involve the exchange of malware samples and Panda will provide a rapid response and classification – within 24 hours – of malicious codes affecting Brazil.

The agreement was announced in Sao Paulo by Panda Security CEO Juan Santana and the Brazilian Army's Commander of Communications and Cyber-Warfare, Brigadier General Antonino dos Santos Guerra Neto.

According to Brig. Gen. Santos Guerra, "One of the real selling points that led to this agreement was the extensive experience of Panda Security in collaborating with national defense agencies, as well it being a founding member of the National Cyber-Security Advisory Council in Spain. We are confident that the Brazilian Cyber-Warfare Communication Center will benefit from the knowledge and experience accumulated by Panda in the fight against cyber-crime."

He added, "We have approximately 60,000 computers throughout the country and we suffer an average of 100 intrusion attempts each day across our 12 IT centers. We want to protect the integrity of our systems and be prepared for any potentially critical situation."

Juan Santana, CEO of Panda Security said, "Our experience with the Brazilian Army will undoubtedly contribute to continuing the technological evolution of our security solutions, thereby benefiting all Panda users around the world. It will also help create a safer Web, which is one of our principal mission values and an integral part of our corporate social responsibility efforts."
