Survey: Less Than A Third Of Travelers Disapprove Of Full-Body Scanners

Passenger John Tyner’s recent refusal to undergo x-ray scanning at airport security has led to 80,000 hits on Youtube and sparked huge debate over screening procedures. However, a skyscanner.com survey of international travelers found that less than a third of passengers disapproved of the scanners.

The survey, which was carried out by flight comparison site skyscanner.net earlier this year, revealed that a massive 66 percent of users thought the airport scanners were a good idea as they would improve security and speed up the process.

Passengers who prefer not to be scanned are able to opt for an enhanced pat down check instead. Skyscanner is now surveying users on their opinion as to whether they have ever felt uncomfortable with a pat down search, and whether it more or less of an invasion of privacy than the scan.
