FST21 Opens New Office in the United States

FST21 has expanded its operations with its division in the Americas, which opened about a year ago and now has a new office.

The recently opened office of FST21 America Inc., in Burlington, Mass., is a subsidiary of Israel-based FST21 Ltd. and is headed by Avi Lupo. As CEO of FST21 America, Lupo leads the operational, technical, sales and marketing efforts in the Americas as well as working as part of the management team in Israel to drive strategic planning, global operations and key growth initiatives.

Lupo was a co-founder and president of OzVision Global, and he established the company as a leading developer of advanced video solutions in the international security monitoring market. Lupo formed strategic alliances that introduced video-as-a-service to the world of security and helped establish industry standards.

FST21’s flagship product, SafeRise, has been installed in office buildings, schools, police stations, senior living complexes, affordable living developments and high-rise apartment buildings around the country. According to Lupo, “We have only just begun, and we already have many confirmed installations and opportunities slated for 2011.”

As part of the growth strategy, the company has been hiring additional sales people as well as project managers and a support team.

SafeRise uses second-generation biometrics with a fusion of face, voice, license plate and pattern of behavior recognition to provide easy, automated and convenient identity management access while maintaining the highest level of security. No key, no card and no code are required, because the face and voice of authorized personnel works like a key.

Entrances allow easy, automated, and convenient identity management access by recognizing residents or employees by the way they look, talk and walk, as well as being aware if they are in distress. They can even carry a conversation with them and their visitors.

“It is exciting for us to see the growth and expansion FST21 has already experienced,” Lupo said. “While fingerprint, hand geometry, vascular and iris technologies all provide personal identification, only SafeRise is a non-intrusive identification system. With no key, no cards, and no code, people become the key to smart access to and interaction with apartment and office buildings in the 21st century. Our vision is to be the leader in creating the future of intelligent building safety and security solutions. Based on what we have seen so far, we are well on our way. ”

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
