Basler Vision Technologies Appoints New Regional Sales Managers for Basler IP Cameras in the U.S.

Basler Vision Technologies has appointed Brandon Roe and John Recesso as new regional sales managers for Basler’s IP camera series.

Roe will be responsible for expanding Basler’s security channel network in the southeastern U.S. For the last six years, Roe has been extremely successful selling video, access control and intrusion products in the security market. He focused much of his time at the project level and also drove business at the end-user level by opening markets for IP video including cruise lines, gaming, hotels/hospitality and healthcare. He also worked successfully with system integrators, moving them from analog to IP cameras.

Recesso will be responsible for managing IP camera sales in eastern Canada and the northeastern U.S. Recesso has more than 11 years of experience in the security industry and has held positions at three different companies in the security market. He started working with IP video when it was in its infancy, has educated people about IP video and developed business opportunities. Recesso has forged strong relationships with integrators, architects and engineers, end users and industry partners such as video management system companies.

“We are very pleased to have found two skilled sales managers who will use their experience to help us build on our successes in the security industry. I am sure that both new colleagues will make a valuable contribution to our sales efforts,” said Marko Vogt, sales manager Americas, security, Basler Inc. USA.

It did something that no analog system could: transmit video over a standard IP network. Read Now

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
