Kaplogic Joins OnSSI Technology Partner Program

OnSSI, a provider of open-architecture, intelligent IP-based video surveillance software, announces a new technology partnership between the Ocularis v2.0 software platform and Aegis physical security information management (PSIM) software by KapLogic Corp., a developer of advanced security integration products.

Used together, the two technologies enable incorporation of the functionality and infinite scalability of Ocularis into KapLogic's flagship Aegis PSIM platform that combines information from various manufacturers' systems into a single, easy-to-use interface. KapLogic collaborates with manufacturers to simplify integration of various systems for small to enterprise-sized installations.

“Bringing Ocularis 2.0 together with KapLogic 's Aegis PSIM platform enables customers to use Ocularis functions such as instant investigation during live monitoring, along with open platform support for hundreds of camera models within a PSIM environment that provides users immediate access to information from a range of security systems,” said Gadi Piran, president and chief technology officer of OnSSI. “The Ocularis open platform enables easy integration with third-party technologies, and Ocularis and Aegis provide a powerful combination for users and integrators.”

Other features of Ocularis include centralized user rights management and scalability for an unlimited number of cameras and servers at multiple sites with single-camera incremental licensing. Advanced video investigation tools in Ocularis include the Time Slicer and Kinetic Motion Timeline.

“Aegis’ graphical maps and video surveillance are critical elements of situational awareness. Becoming a technology partner with OnSSI equips customers with a new level of video functionality and system flexibility,” said Richard Beard, KapLogic Corp. “Aegis PSIM provides operators significant integration with security systems like Ocularis. Aegis integrates video information with alarms/events and audio from other systems providing users with a complete view of their enterprise security systems. KapLogic is proud to add Ocularis to our extensive product catalog.”

It did something that no analog system could: transmit video over a standard IP network. Read Now

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
