SituCon Systems and Panasonic to Showcase School Safety Solution at ASIS International 2011

SituCon Systems Inc., a provider of software and hardware technologies that enable video systems to provide both the safety required and privacy desired, announced details of its participation at next week’s ASIS International 2011 Annual Seminar and Exhibits, which takes place Sept. 19-22 in Orlando, Fla.

SituCon will demonstrate how its Emergency Awareness Solution, which features an alerting system and patented privacy protecting technology, allows school personnel to instantly alert authorities when an emergency occurs and lets responders see what is happening at the scene, while guaranteeing student and teacher privacy at all other times. The company will specifically highlight how the process is accomplished through integration with Panasonic’s classroom audio, network security cameras and recording solutions.

On display will be Panasonic-powered SituCam Privacy Protecting Cameras which feature software-controlled “eyelids” that cover the camera’s lens until danger strikes. When asleep, the cameras are covered by an eyelid that anyone in the area can see, ensuring classroom privacy. When the system is activated the eyelids open, alerting students and teachers that the authorities are watching.

Show attendees will observe demonstrations of the various features of the integrated solution including the way in which a teacher can conveniently and discreetly activate the system, without the need for any additional equipment, simply by using Panasonic’s pendant microphone which is already at hand for educational purposes.
