MorphoTrak Introduces MorphoIDent for Police Officers

Morphotrak recently introduced MorphoIDent, a mobile terminal for police officers that fits into a shirt pocket. The terminal, which has an intuitive user interface and a large color screen, can capture unique fingerprint images. .

The device works by capturing two fingerprints for each person in custody and then sending them to the police agency's fingerprint database. Someone from the agency can then search the database in under a minute to see if the subject's fingerprint matches another person's in the database. The MorphoIDent vibrates as soon as results are available.

So far, police agencies in Fairfax and Prince William, Va. have ordered the device.
