Active Shooter Drill Performed at Abandoned School

Dallas ISD Police exchanged paint-filled bullets inside the abandoned Hulcy Middle School in Dallas, Texas, responding to scenarios that were designed to feel real. Officers took turns confronting a gunman, a suicidal teacher and an angry parent, while supervising officers looked for teachable moments, questioning officers on how they reacted and why.

Police Chief Craig Miller hopes to make the training a regular event to ensure officers are prepared in case of tragic situations within the city’s schools.

Being from Texas, I am proud that Dallas is not taking school security lightly. The video speaks for itself. Training and educating officers is key to keeping our schools safe so that children can learn and teachers can teach...peacefully.

Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area.
