Open Options Unveils Casi Micro/5 Retrofit Solution at ISC West

At this year’s ISC West conference, Open Options is unveiling the M5 Bridge, a new product offering aimed at replacing Casi boards that are nearing end of life with an open platform solution.

Open Options’ new M5 Bridge has one for one replacement boards that are Authentic Mercury and capable of using the existing Micro/5 enclosures, along with existing power and wiring for a screwdriver-less retrofit.  The addition of the Open Options M5 Bridge provides a simple path to an open platform, non-proprietary system for all current Casi Micro 5 end users.

Installation will be as streamlined as possible with a simple board swap of all Micro/5 boards currently installed.  The minimal installation process includes removing the connectors from the Casi boards, pulling the boards from the enclosure and replacing them with the corresponding Mercury M5 board.  The existing connectors are then refitted and power reapplied leaving all field devices untouched. An Ethernet connection to the M5 Bridge will be required to ensure secure communication back to the DNA Fusion access control software.

Mercury accomplished a similar product bridge in 1999 with another multi-national client. Their track record proves the new M5 bridged hardware will be open, authentic and as simple as possible. This retrofit will allow end users a choice in their software platform in keeping with open architecture philosophy.
