Siemens Building Technologies Teams with Quantum Secure

Quantum Secure has formed a value-added reseller (VAR) alliance with Siemens Industry, Inc. Building Technologies Division. As an authorized value-added reseller of Siemens Building Technologies Teams with Quantum SecureQuantum Secure’s SAFE software suite, a comprehensive physical security management solution that connects disparate physical security, IT and operational systems and reduces costs and risks by automating manual security processes, Siemens Industry, Inc. Building Technologies Division will provide enterprise-level physical security identity and management solutions to its customers.

“We are pleased to expand our value-added reseller channel by collaborating with Siemens Industry, Inc. Building Technologies Division to bring our unique SAFE solutions to a broader range of customers worldwide,” said Kurt Takahashi, vice president, North American sales and marketing, Quantum Secure. “We look forward to working closely with Siemens to forge strong customer relationships and establish the benefits and value of the comprehensive SAFE suite of software products.”

Today’s security requirements demand a comprehensive security infrastructure that includes both the physical and logical security spectrums. Crucial to this need is an end-to-end solution that manages identities, compliance and events across disparate physical security systems. Quantum Secure’s SAFE product effectively addresses these challenges with best practices that reduce both costs and risks.

The SAFE suite of applications is broken down into five areas: Physical Identity and Access Management, Compliance and Risk Management, Security Intelligence, Mobile Solutions, and Interoperability and Automation. These applications help automate physical security functions, such as role-based access, self-service administration and reporting into a single easy-to-use and easy-to-manage web-based interface.

“Our agreement with Quantum Secure allows us to provide our global customer base with an industry-leading identity and access solution that addresses the need to manage access rights across disparate systems,” said Rich Cillessen, vice president of enterprise security, Siemens Industry, Inc. “We’re excited to be working with a clear market leader to provide our customers with the innovative, robust SAFE software suite.”

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
