ONVIF Grows with Members on Six Continents

ONVIF, a standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, has announced that it now claims members from six of the seven continents in the world, with the addition of Brazilian security products manufacturer intelbras to its membership ranks.

“As widespread adoption of our profile-based standards continues, we are gratified to see our membership grow in size significantly each year, from North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and now from Latin America,” said Per Björkdahl, chairman of the ONVIF steering committee. “We extend a warm welcome to all of our new members.”

With more than 500 members and conformant products numbered at 3,500, ONVIF is the largest organization of its kind in the world. Since its inception in 2008, the organization has seen its membership grow by 25-50% each year, with the number of compliant products increasing by 250% in the last three years alone.

Björkdahl said that the global representation of ONVIF’s membership broadens and deepens the dialog between manufacturers and systems integrators, which will speed up progress toward greater interoperability between brands and products.
