HID Global Ireland Receives Environmental Management System Certification

HID Global announced that its operations in Galway, Ireland, have completed certification to the International Standards Organization (ISO) 14001-2004 Environmental Management Standard. HID Global’s Ireland center is a high-security, state-of-the-art electronic ID (eID) credential facility that creates products for access and identification-related applications such as electronic passports and contactless swipe ID/access cards. It is the first HID Global facility to achieve ISO certification to this standard in Europe.

“This certification by the leading accredited third-party organization, SGS, further demonstrates our global commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Rodney Glass, senior vice president of global quality and operations with HID Global. “Our Galway team worked diligently to achieve this accomplishment, which is just one of a number of important sustainability initiatives that are underway at HID Global. ISO14001 certification is increasingly becoming a customer requirement and assures customers that we are conducting business in an environmentally responsible way, in accordance with our commitment to sustainability.”

The ISO14001 standard is aimed at identifying and controlling an organization’s environmental impact and improving environmental performance. The standard defines environmental management certification criteria, and provides a framework and tools for achieving the standard’s objectives. Organizations certified to the standard affirm to their customers, employees, and stakeholders that their environmental impact is continuously being measured and improved. Key focus areas include legislative compliance, pollution prevention, and minimizing the use of energy and other resources while exceeding customer expectations for environmental awareness and management performance.
