MicroPower Technologies Introduces Remote Network Surveillance Solution for Remote and Isolated Sites

MicroPower Technologies Inc., an award-winning provider of surveillance solutions optimized for rapid, cost-effective deployment, announced today the availability of remote network surveillance solutions designed for isolated or unmanned facilities, such as those commonly found in the oil and gas, water utility, critical infrastructure and power substations industries. An extension of the company's solar, wireless surveillance technologies, this platform provides surveillance to sites that were previously unreachable by traditional systems.

The power and cabling requirements of typical security products often disqualify the use of video for isolated, remote locales, which present unique and complex requirements. Due to the evolving risk factors presented by such facilities, video surveillance is necessary to help prevent terrorism, vandalism and crime as well as provide the "eyes on" for operation management.

The MicroPower wireless, solar-powered surveillance solution allows isolated sites to ensure security with applications to help reduce deployment and infrastructure costs. The highly reliable and secure wireless solution does not require cabling for power or data transmission. This unique approach removes the restrictions experienced with traditional cameras and allows users to place cameras at remote sites without the added complexity of trenching or pulling data and power cables. Such design minimizes deployment time, eases ongoing maintenance requirements and reduces disruption to day-to-day business on site.

The value of the investment can be extended further because video can be leveraged to ensure consistent and proper operation of devices, monitoring and systems at isolated sites. Additionally, the MicroPower's remote network surveillance solution enables organizations to shift from more situational awareness to situational assessment – for example, using images collected to determine whether a problem demands a maintenance crew or possibly first responders in case of an emergency.

"MicroPower is constantly looking for new ways to respond to application needs where previous solutions were unproductive," said Dave Tynan, Vice President of Global Marketing and Sales, MicroPower Technologies. "Our innovative technologies offer these industries a well-tested solution that solves problems related to lack of infrastructure, while providing the ability to address these issues cost effectively and sustainably."

MicroPower Technologies will showcase its technologies at booth 1253 during the 60th Annual ASIS International Seminar and Exhibits, being held September 29 through October 1, 2014, in Atlanta, Ga.
