Advantech Launches Fully-rugged Tablet PC for Field Services

Advantech is proud to announce the PWS-870, a 10.1” Fully-rugged Tablet PC with the power of an Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor. PWS-870 is designed specifically for field services markets such as public safety, utility, inspection, and construction. It is built for rugged use, drop-tested, military-certified and completely integrated. The user experience is optimized with PWS-870’s high-brightness, multi-touch sunlight-readable screen, and the system is extremely-customizable to meet targeted needs. The latest advanced communication options, including 4G LTE and 802.11 ac, allow unsurpassed performance across a variety of infrastructures.

Multi-touch Display with Tough Gorilla Glass with Powerful Processing

PWS-870 is a step up in toughness from its predecessors. It is IP65 and MIL-STD-810G certified. It is drop-tested at 4 feet, and the integration of accessories into the main unit (like 1D/2D barcode scanner) makes the entire system extra-resilient to damage from shock, drop or vibration. The glass is second generation Gorilla Glass, and the 10.1” display has options for high-brightness (800cd/m2), capacitive-touch, sunlight-readable use, as well as for a digitizer pen. On the inside, the system is designed for powerful processing, using 4th generation, Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor technology, and it supports Windows 8 Operating System.

Advanced Communication Options Serves Various Infrastructures

PWS-870 has the latest in complementary communications technology. Built in to the system is 4G LTE communications, offering fast and secure data communications. The unit also has 802.11 WLAN in all its flavors: a/b/g/n and the latest ac version. In addition there is Bluetooth 4.0 and full GPS with options to use either China’s Beidou or Russia’s Glonass systems for global positioning. One more great feature set is PWS-870’s built-in dual camera (front and back), a 1D/2D barcode scanner, NFC and RFID. With PWS-870, client- and server- side communications is extremely flexible and powerful.

Customizable to Your Exact Specifications

PWS-870 stands apart from other Tablet PCs in its ability to be customized. A rich bed of peripherals is on board, including two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, an audio jack, and an HDMI connector. It also can be vehicle- or desk- docked. PWS-870 has a Universal cover, which functions as handle, stand, carry bag, and hand strap. A hot-swap battery feature allows for up to11hours of continuous operation.
