Honeywell Launches Entry-level PIR

Honeywell  introduced a new hardwired passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor designed to reduce false alarms in residential environments. The new IS335 Motion Detector uses a series of advanced optics to prevent a range of objects – from large pets, to reflected lights, to tiny insects – from affecting the sensor and tripping an alarm system.

Quick and easy to install, the IS335 is an economical and reliable option for all residential applications. It features selectable pet immunity for animals weighing up to 80 pounds, an always-enabled LED, wall-to-wall coverage with a range of 40X56, and a look that blends with any décor.

The IS335 integrates fully with Honeywell Total Connect Remote Services when used with VISTA control panels, providing security dealers with an excellent opportunity to earn recurring monthly revenue (RMR).

Once in operation, the IS335 provides 2,000 lux of white light immunity, which helps reduce false alarms caused by lights, flashlights or reflective objects. Additionally, the device uses a custom-designed Fresnel lens to provide a constant level of detection to deliver the best performance regardless of the distance.

The IS335 completes Honeywell’s IS3000 and DT8000 PIR and DUAL TEC family—a portfolio of high-performance indoor motion detectors that satisfy the demands of virtually any installation, from the most basic residential to the most complex commercial application. All sensors have a sleek, modern look to meet evolving needs and styles, are compatible with the industry’s leading security panels and contain selectable features that let installers use the same models in a variety of different applications – reducing the need to stock multiple units.

  • Evolving Cybersecurity Strategies

Organizations are increasingly turning their attention to human-focused security approaches, as two out of three (68%) cybersecurity incidents involve people. Threat actors are shifting from targeting networks and systems to hacking humans via social engineering methods, living off human errors as their most prevalent attack vector. Whether manipulated or not, human cyber behavior is leveraged to gain backdoor access into systems. This mainly results from a lack of employee training and awareness about evolving attack techniques employed by malign actors. Read Now
