Swann's Customizable Video and Alarm Security Kit Connects to Smartphones

Swann Security announces its Video & Alarm Monitoring System with two day/night cameras and smartphone connectivity. Swann’s latest network video recording security system with 720p high-definition live viewing and playback is the easiest way to know your family and your belongings are safe. Its crisp and clear security footage boasts ten times the image sharpness compared to traditional CIF security systems.

Users can personalize the Video & Alarm Security Kit to accommodate any perimeter. The kit includes five wireless window and door sensors, and five wired sensors for protecting windows and doors in close proximity. Additionally, it has two PIR movement sensors, and three key fob remote controls that communicate wirelessly with the anti-intrusion indoor siren.

Swann’s DIY solution and customizable approach ensures easy Wi-Fi connection, and allows users to add two cameras for full four channel monitoring. Set & forget by recording continuously from 4 channels for 24 days+ on to a pre-installed 500 GB HDD or even longer with motion detection.

Swann’s two high-resolution wireless cameras eliminate blurry night images and muted audio. Users can see in the dark up to 50ft/15m with built-in IR cut filters to provide enhanced night vision, and built-in microphones to capture audio.

Constantly connected and in the palm of your hand, the Swann Wi-Fi Security Kit Micro Monitoring System allows users to view live or recorded video on any smartphone or tablet using the free SwannView Link app. It’s perfect for anyone who is frequently away from their home or office for long periods of time as the free app provides users 24/7 access to their properties anywhere in the world, activity triggered push notifications, and peace of mind.

Swann stands by its promise of Lifetime Support to make advanced security easy-to-use, install and maintain. Everything is included in the package; but if you need assistance, Swann’s help desk is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the life of the product.

The Swann Wi-Fi Security Kit is available now for $499.99 at Fry’s.

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
