U.S. Airports Missing Layers of Security

A recent covert audit of U.S. airports found that there are missing security measures in their latest undercover investigation to expose gaps in Transportation Security Administration procedures Fox News reported.

Department of Homeland Security, General John Roth, revealed the findings at a House hearing on TSA problems where Peter Neffenger, the new Administrator of TSA, also testified on what he’s doing to fix the security problems.

Roth said that the tests by federal officers found consistent problems related to technology, procedures and human error at security checkpoints, across each of the eight airports they investigated.

TSA has been under extreme scrutiny since June when an internal investigation revealed security failures at dozens of the nation’s busiest airports. Undercover investigators were able to smuggle fake explosives or banned weapons though checkpoints in 95 percent of trials.

Neffenger said he was “greatly disturbed” by the findings at the hearing and has since met with Roth to better understand the failures and scope of the corrective actions needed.
