Alarm.com Launches Fully Integrated Doorbell Camera

Alarm.com announced new cameras and enhancements to its video service today.  Alarm.com has added the Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera - Skybell HD Edition to the Alarm.com Smart Home Security Platform, offering the first fully integrated mobile app experience with Skybell.  Alarm.com also launched a new V521IR indoor infrared camera, and a new eight channel SVR100 continuous in-home video recorder.

The announcement comes at a time when connected doorbells and video cameras are top of mind for homeowners and an increasingly popular device for smarter security in a home or business. The enhanced product line-up gives Alarm.com's Dealer Partners options for delivering a cost-effective video solution to more of their customers.

The Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera - Skybell HD Edition and other new video cameras are deeply integrated into the Alarm.com platform to enhance the home's security and enable more personalized recording control through Alarm.com's Rules Engine.  Homeowners and business owners can view video from the Doorbell Camera in the Alarm.com app and easily customize the system to capture the most important moments based on other system triggers.

"More and more consumers want video solutions to know what's going on in their home or business.  They increasingly expect a single mobile app across all their connected devices to stay in control and know what is going on around their property," said Jay Kenny, Alarm.com Senior Vice President of Marketing. "We're excited to launch a smarter doorbell solution and deliver the first fully integrated Skybell HD experience through our highly rated Alarm.com mobile app.  Expanding our video offering keeps our Dealer Partners at the front of the market with a differentiated platform."

The Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera - Skybell HD Edition enables homeowners to hear, see and speak to visitors, and also works with other sensors and devices in the home to extend awareness and control to the front door.  The smart entry solution lets homeowners securely manage access by seamlessly unlocking the door from the video call screen in the Alarm.com mobile app.

This marks the first time the Skybell HD will be fully integrated outside the Skybell HD app. Alarm.com and Skybell engineering teams collaborated closely to implement the most advanced Skybell HD integration to date.

Alarm.com also launched the ADC-V521IR, the new indoor video camera.  The sleek, compact and stylish design reflects its high performance image quality, frame rate and night vision capabilities. The increased Wi-Fi range gives dealers more installation options.

Alarm.com's continuous HD Stream Video Recorder, the ADC-SVR100, now supports up to eight cameras, and is available through Alarm.com and distribution partners at new price points. The SVR enables continuous recording on-site with anytime cloud access and intelligent bandwidth optimized streaming.

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
