Farewell to ISC West

Time seems to go a lot faster in Vegas. There's so much to do and see, that it's impossible to accomplish everything on your to-do list while you're there. I got to spend two day at ISC West, and I gotta say that I cannot wait to go again next year. The conference is spectacular, and the energy there is nothing short of electric.

I got to see so many amazing products, witness incredible demos, and meet people that I know I'll stay in touch with for years to come. One of my favorite things to do was to check out all the products that were on display just outside the exhibit hall. There are so many cool products that you couldn't help but stop and look at them, then go to their respective booths and get a closer look.

Of course having the chance to speech with the companies and learn about a specific product or solution was the highlight of my trip. I love how friendly everyone is and how easy it is to just sit down and chat. Yes, we may be talking business but it makes it so much more fun when you can relax and actually enjoy yourself while you work.

I want to thank all of my co-workers I got to see and hang out with, as well as the companies I got a chance to speak with. Each of you made my trip extraordinary. And as I leave Vegas, I know I'll be back and next year will be better than ever.

Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
