A Georgia inmate shot and killed two correctional officers and now two prisoners are on the run.

A Georgia inmate shot and killed two correctional officers while officers were transporting inmates during a work detail, local news reported. Two inmates are on the run.

The sheriff’s office in Putnum County, about 80 miles southeast of Atlanta, said the two officers were killed along Georgia State Route 16 while transporting the inmates during a work detail on Tuesday morning.

The two inmates who fled have been identified as Donnie Russell Rowe, 43, and Rickey Dubose, 24, according to a tweet by Georgia Corrections.

Georgia Corrections believes the two stole a green 2004 Honda Civic with Georgia license plate number RBJ6601. They urge anyone who sees the inmates to not approach them and to call 911.
