Don’t Miss These Opportunities to Learn at ISC West

ISC West provides opportunities for continued education at annual trade show.

ISC West is so huge that I often forget that there is more to it than an Expo Hall in the middle of the Las Vegas strip.

Each year, ISC West in partnership with SIA, puts together a string of educational sessions to help attendees further their knowledge on certain topics. This year, the focus seems to be on cybersecurity of physical solutions, Safe Cities, drones and robotics.

Here's the top three sessions the Security Today team hope to be sitting in on:

Keynote 2: 1 October

Speaker Deputy Chief Christopher Jones of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will be presenting a brief overview of the incident at a concert festival in Las Vegas.

The incident, which happened on October 1, 2017, occurred with a gunman fired down into a crowd of concert goers from a window at the Mandalay Bay hotel leaving 58 people dead and 851 injured. The incident is the deadliest mass shooting committed by an individual in the United States.

Envisioning Smart/Safe Cities' Future: 2020 and Beyond

The conventional wisdom is that physical and cyber security are converging, while the diversity of sensors continues to expand. What infrastructure will lead? How will we protect the "Massive IoT" now present in smart cities and intelligent buildings? And what will be tomorrow's cyber-attack vectors?

This peer into the future, presented in a multimedia rich "top ten" format will consider the effect of emerging technologies and trends, such as the Internet of Things, virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence, data analytics and intelligent buildings. What solutions will claim 5G's dominance? How will infrastructure's evolution offload the burden of IT staff into the simplified yet vulnerable cloud?
