HID Global Joins HP at Cerner Health Conference to Showcase Solutions for Fighting Opioid Abuse and Protecting Patient Data

HID Global®, a worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions, today announced that it is joining HP at its Cerner Health Conference booth to share how trusted identities help combat opioid abuse while defending against breaches in a world of increasingly challenging security threats. The two companies will jointly show how their solutions are being combined to save time, ensure patient security and data privacy, and improve health outcomes and the patient experience.

“This collaboration between HP and HID Global in support of healthcare institutions and their unique needs is resulting in powerful solutions for delivering safe and effective care,” said Samuel Asarnoj, Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Business Development with HID Global. “Together we are addressing some of the most challenging issues faced by practitioners, clinicians and other healthcare professionals, while giving them the confidence that we are collaborating to help preserve their investments by ensuring our solutions’ interoperability.”

Attendees can see the following HID presentations and product demonstrations from Oct. 8-11, 2018 in HP booth #601 at the Kansas City Convention Center:

Presentations:

  • “Secure Authentication for EPCS,” on Tuesday, Oct. 9 and Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 2:30 p.m. each day: HID Global will share how attendees can help win the fight against opioid abuse. Sheila Loy, Director Healthcare & Insurance – Identity & Access Management with HID Global, will provide an educational overview of Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) rules associated with the Electronic Prescription of Controlled Substances (EPCS), and how to simplify compliance.
  • “Next Generation Secure Authentication,” on Tuesday, Oct. 9 and Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 11:30 a.m. each day: HID’s Todd Seeley, Global Manager, Business Development – Extended Access Technologies, will describe how to achieve a fast and simple “tap-in/tap-out” experience for authenticating to Microsoft Windows running on HP Healthcare Edition hardware.

Demonstrations:

  • HID Approve™ multi-factor authentication solution: Combines the security of public key-based cryptography with the convenience of mobile push notifications for approving electronic prescribing transactions with a simple swipe of a mobile device. FIPS 140-2 cryptography ensures that HID Approve meets U.S. Healthcare EPCS requirements.
  • Tap-in/Tap-out authentication using highly secure HID credentials: Attendees will experience the ease of using Seos® credentials to tap in and out of Microsoft Windows running on HP Healthcare Edition hardware. The HP Healthcare Edition devices used in the demonstration have an embedded reader with HID technology from RF IDeas. This improves the clinician experience, reduces hardware sanitization expense, and frees USB ports for other uses.
