California Mall Employs Security Robot

California Mall Employs Security Robot

A security robot will start patrolling a California mall to increase security and customer relations.

A California shopping mall is taking security to the next level by employing a security robot to enhance security and customer relations. The robot is expected to begin its work at the beginning of the New Year at "The Bloc."

"We really like the fact that this is kind of on the cutting edge of technology," Mall Manager Dan Cote said. "It's picking up video footage, it is picking up mac addresses... a lot of information that humans just aren't capable of."

Cote said that the robot will not take away any jobs from human security officers, but rather improve what is already available.

This isn't the first time that a mall or facility has decided to improve security with the use of a security robot. This year alone, Security Today has written several articles about the implementation of these robots and how they can improve the input of valuable information for security teams.

For instance, a hospital in Houston is now using security robots to patrol the halls of the hospital and ensure patient safety and in Japan, a security robot is now helping to feed important information to security teams protecting a train station.
