Peter O’Neil of ASIS International Joins Mission 500 Advisory Board

“I look forward to working with the Board to help Mission 500 continue to grow and help those in need," O'Neil says

Mission 500, a non-profit charity dedicated to serving the needs of children, families, and communities in crisis across the United States, is proud to have Peter J. O'Neil, FASAE, CAE, and Chief Executive Officer of ASIS International, join its Advisory Board.

“We welcome Peter to Mission 500’s Advisory Board and look forward to his participation and assistance in guiding Mission 500 into the future,” said Ken Gould, Mission 500 Chairman of the Board and President of KJG Consulting. “Together with Peter’s leadership and established presence in the market, we will be able to extend the message and reach of Mission 500.”

O'Neil joined ASIS International in January 2016. Previously, he served as CEO of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). In addition to AIHA, O’Neil had oversight of three limited liability companies, a related education-oriented foundation, and a foundation that establishes guideline values for human chemical exposure limits.

O’Neil earned his Bachelor of Science in International Relations from Syracuse University, and completed additional post-graduate work in public administration, knowledge management, and association management. He is past Chairman of the American Society for Association Executives (ASAE) and the ASAE Foundation, and he has served on numerous committees and boards throughout his 27 years of association leadership.

O’Neil achieved the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential in 1998, was named a Fellow of ASAE in 2006 and was recognized with ASAE’s highest individual honor, The Key Award, in 2019, honoring the association CEO who demonstrates exceptional qualities of leadership in his or her own association and displays a deep commitment to voluntary membership organizations.

“Mission 500 has been instrumental in motivating and engaging security professionals across the industry to improve the lives of so many children and families across the country,” said O’Neil. “I look forward to working with the Board to help Mission 500 continue to grow and help those in need.”
