AES, Industry Saddened at Passing of Patrick Moran

Moran, who was president and COO of the company, died on May 14

Patrick Moran, president & COO of AES Corp., passed away May 14 in Newton, MA following a very brief illness, the company announced this week. He was a colleague and friend to many in the industry, with AES calling him passionate, dedicated and loyal.

“Patrick joined AES in November of 2017. Since joining the company, he led the business to new levels of success gaining friendships within the organization, establishing valued relationships with our customers, and so much more. There is no doubt his absence will be felt and he will be missed,” said Michael Sherman, CEO and Chief Technology Officer.

Moran was a dedicated and loyal AES employee, leading the executive team during his tenure. He worked tirelessly on continuous process improvement efforts and implemented policies in support of the company mission, vision, and values. Moran was passionate about his work and family and enjoyed his calling as a strategic advisor in the investment banking industry and as a management consultant.

Moran held multiple degrees from Boston College, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (where he was the first Wolfowitz Scholar), and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. An avid reader and quite the historian, Moran had an affinity for storytelling and particular passion for the Northern Ireland conflict. His enthusiasm for sharing his extensive knowledge of world history and excerpts from the latest book he was reading is noteworthy.

Moran is survived by his father, a half-sister, extended family and many friends. He is predeceased by his sister Nancy, with whom he was particularly close. Most significantly, he leaves his daughter Lyla, the pride and joy of his life.
