Naval Air Station Security Guard Injured

An unidentified shooter has injured on security guard at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, TX, today. It has been determined that the shooting is terrorism related, according to the FBI.

A second person of interest may be at large, though FBI officials are saying the public should remain calm, but “if you see something, say something.”

The incident prompted the base and nearby Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to go on lockdown. The shooting was reported at 6:15 a.m. when a suspect sped through a Naval Air Station gate, activating vehicle barriers, which stopped the car.

The driver then got out of the car and began shooting, before being shot and killed, the defense official said.

"We have determined that the incident this morning at the Naval Air Station Corpus Christi is terrorism related," said FBI spokesperson Leah Graves. "They are working diligently with local, state and federal partners on the investigation, which is fluid and evolving."

The security guard suffered minor injuries and was released from the hospital later in the day, Navy officials said.
