COPS Monitoring achieves HIPAA compliance with Compliancy Group

COPS Monitoring, the largest provider of wholesale professional alarm monitoring services in North America, announced today that it has taken all necessary steps to prove its good faith effort to achieve compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). By doing so, COPS has earned Seal of ComplianceTM, a distinction issued only to organizations that have implemented an effective HIPAA compliance program through the use of Compliancy Group's exclusive program, The GuardTM.

By completing Compliancy Group’s Implementation Program, COPS Monitoring has demonstrated its adherence to the meticulous regulatory standards outlined in the HIPAA Privacy Rule, Security Rule, Breach Notification Rule, Omnibus Rule, and HITECH.  Through the use of The Guard, COPS Monitoring can manage its continued compliance.

HIPAA is comprised of a set of regulatory standards governing the security, privacy, and integrity of sensitive healthcare data called protected health information (PHI). PHI is any individually identifiable healthcare-related information. If vendors who service healthcare clients come into contact with PHI in any way, those vendors must be HIPAA compliant.

"We have a profound respect for what it means to be a professional monitoring provider of millions of homes and businesses," said Jim McMullern, president of COPS Monitoring's. "Our dealers and customers place a tremendous amount of trust in us; not only for their physical security and wellbeing, but also to keep their data and personal information safe. In addition to protecting their data with state-of-the-art technology, we believe the independent verification of our HIPAA compliance is another step in the right direction to guarding our dealer and customer, and a valuable addition to our SOC 2 attestation."
