SoloInsight Founder Farhan Masood Awarded ‘Einstein’ Visa

Soloinsight founder, president, and CTO Farhan Masood has been awarded the prestigious United States EB-1A visa. The Green Card nicknamed the “Einstein Visa,” based on achievement and is awarded to applicants with extraordinary ability and success in the sciences, arts, education, business or athletics.

The EB-1A visa recognizes Masood for his work in the field of science and extraordinary abilities in security technology innovation, work within the Internet of Things (IoT), shaping the future of authentication, and convergence of logical and physical security. Since 2013, Masood has been at the helm of Soloinsight, a company he founded, which has produced CloudGate Visitor Identity and Access Management (VIAM) and CloudGate Mobile Access Control Solutions.

The EB-1A visa gives Masood, who was born in Pakistan, permanent residence in the United States and the opportunity to continue his success with Soloinsight using workflow automation to improve operational efficiencies in security, safety and facilities management.

“It is an honor to be recognized with the EB-1A Visa and to be accepted into the United States as a permanent resident,” Masood said. “Our successes at Soloinsight have just begun and we look forward to many more great accomplishments in the exciting field of security technology.”

“Mr. Masood’s exemplary leadership abilities greatly contributes to our company’s future success,” said Carter Kennedy, CEO of Soloinsight. “His vision, dedication and work ethic consistently pushes us to greater heights.”

Senior Program Manager of Microsoft Corporation Rahul Garg said of Masood, “Under Farhan Masood’s guidance, Soloinsight has developed a unique and innovative offering for IoT, which is redefining many industries as we know them today. Many experts are calling IoT the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution,’ and personally I believe it is crucial to have Farhan in the United States to continue developing this revolutionizing area so that technology leaders in the United States can benefit from his thought leadership.”

Masood has 20-plus years of experience in building enterprise perimeter and cyber security products and writing biometric / identification algorithms around IoT, 3D facial, and iris recognition; retina and palm vein verification; mobile proximity; IAM, blockchain; software defined RFID; and military grade secure QR codes and beacons.

At Soloinsight, Masood developed the CloudGate Security Workflow Automation platform that offers advanced VIAM and Mobile Access Control Solutions. CloudGate VIAM delivers unprecedented security and an intuitive guest and host experience across multiple locations via the cloud, on-prem, and within hybrid infrastructures. CloudGate Mobile uses a ‘mobile first’ approach to create responsive environments deeply integrated into physical and logical identity and access management systems. Impressively, CloudGate’s handheld badge readers and Mobile apps perform most of the functions that a Physical Access Control System (PACS) provides.

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
