SIA Appoints New Utilities Advisory Board Vice Chair

The Security Industry Association appointed a technology executive to help lead its specialized group focused on critical infrastructure protection.

Dr. Jasvir Gill will serve as the new vice chair of the SIA Utilities Advisory Board, working alongside chair Joey St. Jacques to guide the group’s strategic initiatives.

The advisory board, established in 2022, creates security recommendations, educational programming and regulatory guidance for the physical security and cybersecurity of utility infrastructure.

Gill is a founding member of the advisory board and previously served as the head of its technology subcommittee. In that role, he focused on developing educational content regarding cyber-physical convergence for security practitioners and integrators.

Professionally, Gill is the founder and chief executive officer of Alert Enterprise, a company specializing in identity security and automation software. He previously founded Virsa Systems, an application security firm acquired by SAP in 2006.

The advisory board's current projects include developing security training modules, hosting industry events and maintaining compliance guides for utility sector regulations.
