The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office replaced a 25-year-old dispatch system with Mark43’s public safety platform, adding tools for tracking units and accessing incident information in the field.
The agency serves more than 3.2 million residents across 4,200 square miles. According to Mark43, the rollout provides tools for more than 3,000 sworn personnel, 100 dispatchers and 100 other staff members.
The computer-aided dispatch system gives dispatchers access to maps with additional visual information and updates showing unit locations. It also allows personnel to handle dispatch duties for nonemergency calls from outside the main communications center.
Deputies can retrieve dispatch information through Mark43 First Responder and OnScene using phones and vehicle interfaces.
The sheriff’s office deployment follows the Port of San Diego Harbor Police Department’s adoption of Mark43 earlier this year.
