HID Updates FARGO Printers with Credential Security Features

Encryption, watermark options and revised printing hardware are among changes to three ID card printer models.

Organizations issuing identification cards will have new data protection and printing options as HID rolls out updates to its FARGO DTC1250e, DTC4500e and DTC1500 printers.

HID said the updated models feature enhanced AES-256-GCM encryption and resin scramble data protection, while the DTC1500 and DTC4500e also support a customizable watermark overlay on credentials.

HID expects the updated DTC1250e and DTC4500e models to become available in late October or early November, depending on the region. The revised DTC1500 is scheduled to follow later in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Hardware and electronics changes are intended to increase printing speed, according to HID. The printers also support ribbons with greater capacity, allowing more cards to be produced between ribbon changes.

Print settings include a resolution of 300 x 600 dpi, a revised color profile and adjustable controls for the black resin panel used during printing.
