SAMSUNG | GVI Security recently announced that Naucalpan de Juarez, a city of more than 1 million people on the outskirts of Mexico City, is using SAMSUNG | GVI Security cameras to help better police the city, one of Mexico’s most industrialized municipalities. Because of the accelerated development of its industry, today Naucalpan is considered one of the most important municipalities in Mexico but is also in the country’s Top 5 for number of police reports. The city has been averaging 170 reported thefts a month.

Avigilon recently announced that Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center (EGSMC), a 500,000 square feet health care facility that is connected to two independent facilities, has deployed the Avigilon High Definition (HD) surveillance system to monitor both the interior and exterior of the facility, the parking lot, entrances and other high-risk areas to help protect patients, visitors and staff.
IQinVision recently announced that upwards to 20 downtown Rotterdam shops, in the Netherlands, have deployed IQeye megapixel cameras to combat store robberies.
All in all, GovSec 2009 was a smashing success. Tradeshow organizers from the 1105 Government Information Group put together an incredible show for both GovSec and FOSE. Security Products magazine was equally successful in planning and coordinating our first ever IP Summit. We look forward to hosting another event in 2010.

Harsens Island is a remote island town with a population of less than 2,000, located 25 miles northeast of downtown Detroit. Each summer, Harsens Island is transformed into a vibrant vacation destination with bustling shops, bed-and-breakfast hotels and restaurants. During the winter, the island all but shuts down, save for the essential businesses and stores that remain open for the island’s full-time residents.

Security directors face large problems in large facilities. Officials at airports, seaports, industrial facilities and other large installations deal with a unique set of security problems. They also have a unique set of limitations. They must protect against a variety of security threats, many of which are unknown, and they must address these issues with limited manpower. They also are dealing with creative enemies who are always adapting and enhancing their sly methods.

The Department of Defense is rolling out more than 350 of Sony’s latest-generation 1.3 megapixel high-resolution network security cameras to its facilities worldwide. According to Strategic Solutions Unlimited (SSU), a security systems integrator based in Fayetteville, N.C., the Department of Defense is in the second phase of its camera deployment, adding 300 units to the 50 cameras initially installed in 2008.
911SecurityCamera Inc. recently announced the completion of an integrated IP surveillance system for the Deer Park Police Station in Texas. The IP video surveillance solution gives the department centralized control over all aspects of security. The surveillance system provides 24 hour monitoring of all areas of the department's operations including booking areas, holding cells, interview rooms, parking lots and the entrances.
Technology from Bosch Security Systems is playing a principal role in a new CCTV installation at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom as it extends the IP camera network to cover further areas of the university campus.
