AI Provides Insight Concerning Risk

Artificial Intelligence is here. Its’ impact on both physical and cyber security is profound and will increase. This discussion is not about what regulations will or should be implemented or on the societal views of the use of AI. This discussion is centered around the potential benefits of AI when properly and practically implemented.

Traditional legacy systems are policy breach driven. No information is provided to security operations until a policy violation occurs. These systems are reactive rather than proactive.

Risk management is a critical aspect of security operations, as it helps to ensure the safety and security of both employees and the public. One key component of risk management is increasing situational awareness through risk assessment and automated procedures for physical security.

Risk assessment is the process of identifying and evaluating potential hazards and threats that could impact operations. This includes evaluating the likelihood and potential impact of a wide range of risks, including natural disasters, cyber-attacks, and physical security breaches. By identifying these risks in advance, security can take steps to mitigate or prevent them from occurring. Risk monitoring allows you to be proactive.

John Carter

John Carter is the president/CTO and a co-founder of ReconaSense. John is a NASA trained engineer from the Space Shuttle era. He is a well-known and respected security industry veteran. John has architected solutions spanning both federal and commercial applications.

Following his NASA engagement, John joined the Physical Security Industry as an Engineering Director at a young age and never looked back. Providing solutions to improve life safety, employee accountability, risk analysis and threat assessment has been his mission since joining the industry. He was and is responsible for the development of technology for the Federal Government, Airports, Healthcare, Universities, Casino Gaming, Financial Institutions and Corporate facilities.

John has always possessed an entrepreneurial spirit. He is often called a visionary by his peers in the industry. He was successful building multiple companies that were subsequently acquired because of the horizon technology developed.

John spent 5 years serving on the SIA Board of Directors. He was a member of the SIA Executive Committee. His focus was primarily the Government Advisory Group. Following 9/11, John participated in Federal “Go Teams” to establish new guidelines and define new technologies for federal security.  His reputation put him in a position to participate in improving our Nation’s security posture.
