Building a Resilient Security Posture for High-Volume Venues
Date: Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 2:00pm ET - 1:00pm CT - 11:00am PT
Large capacity venues, whether they are stadiums, amusement parks or zoos and aquariums, all present significant challenges for the security professionals charged with overseeing public safety. As these environments can welcome thousands of guests each day, it takes effort and determination to maintain a resilient security posture while minimizing the impact on the guest experience. As always, protecting locations like these requires starting with security fundamentals, such as incident response, access control, crowd management and surveillance.
Security at zoos can present a unique set of challenges for security professionals. The primary difference between the threat profiles at zoos versus other entertainment venues, of course, is the animals. Whereas most other large venues primarily consider the risks associated with the behavior of people, the presence of wild animals adds an entirely new layer to security planning. Key considerations include habitat integrity, preventing human-animal interactions, and preparedness for emergency scenarios such as dangerous animal escapes, including coordinated emergency response protocols for high-risk animal incidents.
