Activities Build Excitement For Security 5K/Mission 500 Charity Run

Several activities will generate excitement and encourage ISC West attendees to rise early on Thursday, March 25, don their running shoes and participate in the Security 5K/Mission 500 Charity Run.

Proceeds from the $30 entry fee will benefit Mission 500, a charitable organization engaging security professionals to sponsor 500 children in need through the World Vision organization.

Runners who sign up at the Registration Desk on March 24 in the ISC West lobby can try their skill competing in an Olympic “Track and Field” video game to win an Xbox video game console. The Mission 5K Xbox Giveaway, sponsored by Deister, will promote the race as a “fun run” that anyone can participate in. The contest is open to anyone, not just race participants, and the highest score at 4 p.m. on registration day will win the Xbox. A professional tradeshow hostess will recruit players, manage play of the game, and distribute sponsor literature.

Also, HID will donate $1 to Mission 500 for each ISC West attendee who posts his or her ID badge -- created on HID's new line of Fargo printers -- on the Mission 500 donation wall. Show visitors will receive an HID Global Mission 500 card in their ISC West registration bag which they can take to the HID Global Booth No. 12051 and have their badge printed in seconds to help cover the wall with donations to the worthy cause.

“We are looking forward to a great turnout for this charity event, which focuses attention on children in need,” said George Fletcher, advisory council member/volunteer, Mission 500. “One hundred percent of the proceeds will be channeled directly to World Vision, so everyone who participates is a winner.”

The run starts promptly at 7:30 a.m. on March 25, and the Security 5K/ Mission 500 course will take runners along Industrial Road from the Fashion Center Mall area north to Sahara Boulevard and then loop back along the same route to finish at the starting point.  Race bags and complimentary food will be available for all runners following the race.

Organizing sponsors and the Mission 500 organization will host a reception and Awards Ceremony for Security 5K/Mission 500 runners on the evening of March 25 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Awards will be presented to winners of the various age categories and to the top male and female runners.
