Pelco Integrated Solution Prevents Theft at SF Bay Area Restaurant

The open standards of the Pelco DX8100 DVR and mobiDEOS MobileCamViewer are providing the ideal integrated solution for the Boulevard Café, a San Francisco Bay Area restaurant, by thwarting an internal theft problem and protecting the wellbeing of its customers. Pelco is a Schneider Electric brand.

“It makes me feel more secure because I’m able to oversee my business without physically being there,” said restaurant owner Billy Panos.

From the camera footage relayed by the Pelco DX8100 DVR to his mobile phone on MobileCamViewer, Panos was able to see that drinks were being given away free from the bar – and he put an end to the situation. “Bartenders are now no longer giving away drinks for free, which has probably saved the company hundreds or even thousands of dollars,” he said.

This open, integrated solution enables Panos to monitor and control his video security system in a way that was once inconceivable. Using the MobileCamViewer from mobiDEOS, Panos can now monitor and control his 22 Pelco and third-party PTZ cameras located throughout the restaurant’s interior and exterior from virtually anywhere using his iPhone. With the number of employees Panos has, he says it was imperative to have video security available to him remotely to deter the theft of not only liquor, but also food and money.

“Surveillance systems and the mobile apps that work with them are worth their weight in gold. Once I started using them, I wondered how I got by without it. It is technology at its finest,” Panos says.

Pelco by Schneider Electric is a world leader in the design, development, and manufacture of video and security systems ideal for any industry. Pelco produces the security industry’s most respected offering of discreet security camera domes and enclosures, video matrix systems, virtual matrix, video management software, next-generation DVRs, full HD LCD displays and HD megapixel cameras, IP cameras, and other IP/IT solutions.
