A Smashing Success

Unless you’ve been here, there’s nothing like IFSEC. Organizers bill it as the world’s largest security show. Days two and three proved it for me. The exhibition hall was packed with security professionals.

Like you, I enjoy a good party. In the final hour of day 2, Milestone Systems hosted a cocktail reception. The Milestone reception was pretty much a collecting point for invited guests. It’s a great opportunity to rub shoulders with software users and corporate staff.

Thanks to the Milestone staff for the invitation: Christian Bohn, Juliette Gustavsson and Courtney Pederson.

There’s nothing like meeting someone face to face for the first time, after working with them for years.

It was my pleasure to meet Rachael Nieman, who is the public relations person for BriefCam. We’ve worked on a project before, but never met. Thanks to Milestone, that was arranged. Same goes for Marcel van der Meijs of Barix, who serves as vice president of sales for the Zurich-based company.

Arecont Vision also hosted a cocktail reception for VIPs. I crashed the party anyway, though I did have an invitation. I don’t think of myself as a VIP, but someone very lucky to be able to work with such fine people.

New acquaintances are always a pleasure. I was able to meet with Anat Zimerman, the marketing director at Rosslare; Roger Decker, director of solutions and marketing at Siqura; Michael Chen, vice president at adhua; Anke Wubbelmann, head of communications at Basler; Rob Davies, campaigns manager at Dedicated Micros; and Jaroslaw Zurawik, export manager at Satel.

I look forward to the wrap up edition of the IFSEC e-news, and certainly want to thank our sponsors, each of them listed on this newsletter. I encourage you to take a look at their websites and their products; each of them dedicated to the advancement of security products and technology.
