ESX 2011 Kicks Off

Coming to the hometown of NASCAR, I would have expected fast times in the fast lane. Not so much at the ESX tradeshow. Traffic is a little bit slower than I expected. That doesn't mean the quality of attendee is down. On the contrary, for that matter.

Traffic in the tradeshow aisles is slow enough that passing lanes aren't even being used, but some of the exhibitors are getting their money's worth. Paxton, for instance, is reporting and excellent first day. Plenty of traffic and some terrific leads. A couple other dealers, who wanted to remain nameless, were less than thrilled.

For Security Products, it's a grand opportunity to visit with dealers and integrators, and will surely make a difference in our October version of Dealer Quarterly, where we feature news and events that affect the dealer and integrator.

ESX is sponsored by the Electronic Security Association, headquartered in Irving, Texas, and believe me when I say they leave it all on the show floor, they have done a spectacular job preparing for and administering the show. You know, people are working and trying to make a living, and maybe couldn't race to Charlotte for the event.

The next two years of ESX will be held in Nashville. By then, let's hope the economy is in full turnaround mode and dealers and integrators can spend a couple days swapping stories about the industry.
