Foreground Security Expands Management Team with Director of Governance, Risk and Compliance

Yousif Mostafa brings more than 15 years of IT security experience; specializing in security risk management, governance and compliance.

Foreground Security has selected Yousif Mostafa as its new director of governance, risk and compliance (GRC). In this role, Mostafa is responsible for expanding and managing the company’s GRC division, while developing strategy to ensure customers and government agencies are meeting compliance guidelines. Specializing in security risk management, governance and compliance, Mostafa is also tasked with evaluating and writing certification and accreditation (C&A) process documents for Department of Energy (DOE) agency systems as well as assisting government agencies on federal compliance guidelines including National Institute of Standard and Technology, National Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process and Office of Management and Budget.

Mostafa has more than 15 years of experience in Information Technology, 12 of those years in information security. He has also worked in and managed a security network operations center, and in 2001 he helped establish the first Security Operations Center (SOC) in the United Arab Emirates. He is adept at providing subject matter expertise to customers on security policy implementation/compliance according to agency and FISMA requirements while leading teams of information security professionals. Additionally, he is experienced at evaluating system interconnections; trust relationships, Internet connections and remote access security.

Before joining Foreground Security, Mostafa worked at Copper River Information Technology where he served as director of cyber security and information. In this position, he was responsible for performing C&A tasks on various DOE agency systems as well as providing guidance on remote access security issues to customers. Prior to his work at Copper River Information Technology, Mostafa performed security compliance and security assessment work with many different companies and government agencies including the U.S. Marine Corps, Department of State, Department of Commerce and the Department of Energy. He also worked as a consultant for law firms and financial institutions in the Washington, D.C. area to improve their security posture. In addition, Mostafa holds many certifications in the IT security field and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in information security and assurance.
