We’ve wrapped up another ASIS tradeshow, this time in Orlando. I think the overall tradeshow got mixed reviews from exhibitors and attendees. I thought it was a pretty good tradeshow.

If you were looking for new products, they were there. If you were hoping for quality attendees, they were plentiful.

Altronix has released its ReServ indoor and outdoor models provide power during normal, brown-out and power outage conditions.

“ReServ combines the reliability of an Altronix power supply with the back-up of a UPS into a single UL listed solution,” said Alan Forman, president of Altronix. “They are ideal for maintaining continuous surveillance at high security camera locations such as main egress/entry points to a facility or areas where cash, pharmaceuticals and valuables are handled.”

ReServ provides true sine-wave regulated 24VAC, filtered and regulated 12VDC, or both simultaneously during all power conditions. The cost-efficient units also feature alarm notification of UPS trouble condition, supervisory status indicators, AC fail and low battery reporting.

Axis Communications showcased its Q1604/-E Network Cameras. Adapted for wide dynamic range scenarios, Axis’ dynamic capture capability allows the camera to provide clear images even under backlight conditions where intensity of illumination can vary greatly.

Wide dynamic range with dynamic capture works by acquiring several images with different exposure times. Together with advanced image processing, the result is video with exceptional clarity and sharpness, ensuring that no part of the image is too dark or too bright.

Verint has its eyes set on retailers with the announcement of the enhanced Nextiva Video Business Intelligence suite. The analytics-based application captures and analyzes shopper movement patterns to increase conversion rates and improve operational efficiency. The Nextiva VBI includes such additional functions as Nextiva Retail Traffic Analytics, Nextiva People Counting and Nextiva Queue Management, along with the ability to integrate with such existing business systems as POS, EAS and RFID.

Also on the show, Verint officials explained their newly revamped Channel Partner Program for system integrators designed to enhance Verint partnerships through advanced training, co-marketing initiatives and industry recognition. Partner Orion Systems has already seen significant value out of the program.

Even though the year is winding down, security systems and sales do not. It’s the perfect time to get back in the field and talk up the tradeshow, the newest products and the hottest trends in the industry.
