Security Weak?

ISC Solutions continues to struggle in finding secure ground this year. By posting new show hours that only make the show one and a half days this year, coupled with low attendance, many were wondering if the end of the northeast show was near. Despite the show trouble, the exhibitors still had interesting news to talk about.

TimeSight Systems and Sentry360 announced a partnership to provide multi-megapixel technology for  advanced video surveillance on reduced storage/server infrastructure to secure critical infrastructure.

According to Charles Foley, CEO of TimeSight, and Thomas Carnevale, CEO of Sentry360, two of the most significant problems associated with traditional video surveillance installations are video blind spots and the rising cost of storage, especially due to the increase of the numbers of cameras installed and resolution. This collaboration addresses these concerns by combining industry-leading fully immersive video with video lifecycle management.

Sentry360's multi-megapixel 360-degree immersive imaging and directional cameras actually reduce the amount of cameras needed to cover a given environment, thereby reducing both cost and complexity. TimeSight video lifecycle management technology provides the ability to actually shrink stored data over time to allow for greater capture and retention of high resolution video on far less bandwidth and storage requirements.

"This alliance leverages the two key technologies that deliver exactly what enterprise users are demanding -- better video and better use of that video," Foley said. "They get wider coverage, better video, and longer retention, all with fewer cameras, fewer storage servers, and less overall cost."

"Today marks a giant step toward resolving these burgeoning issues while providing a lower cost of ownership to the end-user," Carnevale said. "The combination of our technologies brings a heavy return on investment to mission critical security projects. Sentry360's multi-megapixel 360-degree immersive imaging and directional cameras together with TimeSight System's Video Surveillance Appliances, featuring video lifecycle management, combine to create a next generation, high resolution efficient video evidence collection platform."

In other news, the Women’s Security Council announced the Women of the Year Awards, recognizing top female professionals in the security industry. Nominees should exhibit leadership in the industry and at their companies and demonstrated ways they have given back to the women’s business community through mentorships and supporting other women in the security industry.

“WSC provides opportunities for networking and relationship building that can propel women to greater heights in their careers,” said Rhianna Daniels, managing director of CompassPR and a WSC founding committee member. “The WSC Women of the Year award program spotlights the outstanding women in the security industry, who are the demonstrated leaders in the field and those who are emerging as the future of the industry.”

The winners will be honored at ISC West 2012 in Las Vegas.

It seems many are already looking ahead to ISC West 2012. For example, Janet Fenner, marketing group manager at Samsung Techwin, said the company will be unveiling some exciting news and products at ISC West 2012: a new border-patrol robot that will be demonstrated at the show and the Samsung IP Institute, an IP training program with online and hands-on classes offered to integrators.

Who knows how long ISC Solutions will be around, but Security Products will be there to cover the show for as long as it continues.
