Buttock-recognition Car Seat?

Dr. Shigeomi Koshimizu, an associate professor at Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology in Tokyo, and a team of researchers have developed a pressure-sensor sheet that can be used to identify people who sit on it. The sheet is intended for driver seats to prevent car thieves from driving away with a vehicle.

"The sheet has 360 sensors, which collect data for 39 features to recognize a person, such as pressure patterns and the dimensions of the buttocks," Koshimizu said.

The team claims the sheet is 98-percent accurate, but the recognition can be confused by different types of clothing, such as trousers versus jeans.
