ASIS International's New York City Chapter Expands Annual Security Conference and Expo

The New York City Chapter of ASIS International's (ASIS) 22nd Annual Security Conference and Expo happens April 25- 26 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. The newly expanded, two-day event is the largest regional industry forum for security and law enforcement professionals, offering nearly 20 educational sessions and access to more than 100 product and service providers.

The chapter will present its 2012 Person of the Year award to John Miller, senior correspondent for CBS News, during a special luncheon event on Thursday, April 26 at noon at the Javits Convention Center. An award-winning journalist and veteran of government, Miller served briefly within the New York City and Los Angeles Police Departments before joining the FBI. In 1998, he secured an on-air interview with Osama bin Laden. Tickets to attend the luncheon are only included with a full conference registration. Single tickets may be purchased in advance or on-site for $75 each. Tables of 10 can be reserved.

“Each year, security practitioners, corporate decision-makers, and law enforcement personnel attend our event in greater numbers. Being in New York City gives us a unique advantage, as we have the ability to draw upon the knowledge and experience of the industry’s leading authorities from the Fortune 500, as well as foremost security experts working in the public sector,” says ASIS New York City Security Conference and Expo Chair Raymond Dean, CPP. “Networking and collaboration across the public and private sectors are imperative in the fight against global terrorism.”

For the first time, this year’s program includes the ASIS Global Terrorism Conference, presented as one of the conference’s four educational tracks, for no additional fee. In addition, the CSO Roundtable 5th Annual Spring Conference will be colocated with ASIS NYC. ASIS Certification Reviews (CPP and PSP) will be held immediately following the event on April 27-28. ASIS board-certified attendees can earn credits toward recertification by attending the conference sessions and expo.

An optional tour of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center, which includes a special presentation about plans for the National September 11 Memorial Museum, is planned. Participation is limited and registration is required.

Exhibition space is more than 60 percent sold. Companies interested in reaching key decision-makers based in the NY metro region—as well as the East Coast—should contact Shannon Burch at +1.703.518.1424 to contract space while booths still are available.

Online registration is open. On-site registration opens at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 and at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25 and Thursday, April 26. Educational sessions require paid registration. Expo admission is free, but registration is required.
