In case you haven’t heard, ISC West is just one week away. The security industry is in a whirlwind -- including myself -- preparing for one of the largest shows in the West. In an effort to stay active shuttling between meetings and exhibition booths, some security folks are packing their sneakers for a trek around Sin City all for a good cause. The Security 5K fundraising fun run, hosted by Mission 500, is the third annual hike that will be held the second day of ISC West.
The morning run is a departure from serious security conversations all to support world causes. Mission 500 is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis. The non-profit helps children and families living with hunger throughout the world in partnership with World Vision providing aid to various international causes. One hundred percent of the funds raised will be channeled directly to World Vision with a goal of sponsoring at least 500 needy children in their program. This is the sixth year Mission 500 is actively partnering with the security industry to get professionals involved for a cause.
While many attendees will be sitting through education sessions or scoping out the latest security gadget, there are some avid runners dedicated to helping the Mission 500 cause. If you want to get a first-hand look at Sin City, take part in either the 5K run or 2K walk, both trailing throughout the bright lights and casino-filled streets as early as 7:30 a.m. sharp! And if you happen to be one of the first few to cross the finish line, there will be an awards ceremony at 4:30 p.m. at the ISC Special Events Stage.
Get ready to lace up those sneakers and hit the pavement early on next Thursday, March 29. Registration is only $30 and track starts at Fashion Mall and ends at Fashion Mall. You can register the day before the show at the Mission 500 table just outside the Expo hall at the main entrance.

See you at the starting line!
