Kizi Gaming Company Selects Porticor to Protect Private Information

Kizi, an online gaming company, has selected Porticor's Virtual Private Data™ (Porticor VPD™) system to protect its private information stored in the cloud, while keeping customer information confidential. Porticor is a cloud data security company.

Kizi was founded in 2010 to provide the best casual online gaming experience through games that are instantly fun, family friendly and hassle-free. Operating 100 percent on Amazon Web Services, Kizi needed a solution to not only protect cloud-stored information today, but also enable new future services.

“Porticor allows businesses to launch sites and services and scale in an affordable manner, enabling sites like ours to comply with regulatory requirements and keep user data safe,” said Noam Makavy, Kizi CEO.  “The fact that we still own all our encryption keys and no third party is able to access it without us is very compelling.  With Porticor, we don’t have to manage our encryption keys on our own, or build out any infrastructure to use it.”

In addition to Kizi’s intellectual property stored in the cloud that the company must keep safe, Kizi must also protect user data such as login credentials.  Porticor will allow Kizi to expand its services and store additional private data such as payment information and personally identifiable information (PII), while meeting regulations for keeping financial and user information confidential.

“Users want personalized services and expect us to provide these services, while keeping their private data secure,” added Makavy.  “Porticor will allow us to provide these additional services while keeping our users’ data safe and meeting important regulatory requirements.”

The Porticor Virtual Private Data™ (Porticor VPD™) combines data encryption with patented key management and homomorphic split-key encryption technology to protect critical data in public, private and hybrid cloud environments. Its key management system is offered as the industry’s first cloud data protection service, delivering true confidentiality of data in the cloud by ensuring customer encryption keys are never exposed.  The service model eliminates the need to deploy and maintain physical encryption appliances and key management systems.

“Kizi is one of the Top 20 online gaming sites, and we are pleased to work with them to deliver the industry’s highest levels of trust for cloud data protection for their company and users’ information,” said Ariel Dan, Porticor Co-founder, VP Sales and Marketing.  “Not only does Porticor’s cloud-based data-layer encryption deliver the data security that companies need to keep cloud information safe and maintain compliance, but the solution easily integrates into cloud and development environments, without slowing customers down.”

While other solutions require encryption keys to be manually managed for every disk, Porticor’s split-key encryption technology eliminates this complexity by automatically managing encryption keys with maximum security. Porticor protects the entire data layer stack, including virtual disks, distributed storage, and databases. It dynamically encrypts and decrypts virtual data whenever the application needs access, and delivers a key management system that is fully hosted in the cloud, yet offers the confidentiality, security and trust of a system that is hosted inside the datacenter. The system is built for homomorphic key encryption so master keys are always encrypted when they are in the cloud, even when they are in use.
