Harris Corp. to Provide Latin American Country With Falcon Tactical Radios

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has received a $5 million order to provide a Latin American country’s armed forces with high-performance tactical communications for drug interdiction, anti-terrorism and illegal immigration missions.

The Latin American nation is acquiring the Harris Falcon III® RF-7800V VHF combat net radios along with the Falcon II® RF-5800M multiband handheld and RF-5800H high-frequency manpack radios. These radios will be integrated into a system that delivers video from the battlefield to command personnel in real time.

“Harris’ Falcon family of radios will provide the system with combat-proven voice and data communications,’’ said Brendan O’Connell, president, International Business, Harris RF Communications. “This in turn will lead to enhanced real-time situational awareness and command and control and, ultimately, greater success on the battlefield.’’

The RF-7800V family covers the 30 MHz to 108 MHz frequency range and supports data rates up to 192 Kbps, making it the fastest combat net radio available today. The RF-7800V also provides time-critical BMS reports, while delivering simultaneous networked voice and data communications to multiple users.

The RF-5800M-HH is an advanced multiband, multimission handheld radio that provides voice and data in the 30 MHz to 512 MHz frequency range.

Rounding out the architecture, the RF-5800H High-Frequency manpack radio delivers secure, reliable beyond-line-of-site terrestrial communications. The RF-5800H-MP provides continuous coverage in the 1.6 to 60 MHz frequency band, enabling the warfighters to stay connected when line-of-sight communications are not an option.
