Comtrol Releases RocketLinx PoE Switch for Security Applications

Comtrol Corporation, a manufacturer of industrial device communication products, has released the RocketLinx ES7106-VB industrial Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch. The RocketLinx ES7106-VB switch enables easy drop-in PoE device connectivity in transportation, factory and industrial settings while the VB (voltage boost) technology provides the unique capability to power the switch from common 12- and 24-volt supplies. With the RocketLinx ES7106-VB, devices such as IP surveillance cameras, scanners, wireless access points and can be easily integrated within mobile and industrial settings without the use of separate 48V power supplies that may be needed for PoE systems. Four PoE injector switch ports provide full IEEE 802.3af support, enabling connection of a wide range of PoE devices. Two Gigabit Ethernet uplink ports provide high bandwidth for data transmission to a larger network.

“The addition of the voltage boost technology built into the ES7106-VB allows for a wider choice of power sources, making the switch particularly well suited for IP camera integration within mobile applications such as mass transit and law enforcement.”

With a rugged heat-dissipating housing and IP30-rated industrial design, the ES7106-VB assures reliable data transmission with support for QoS (quality of service), which ensures high quality video traffic transmission by adjusting the data transfer priority to guarantee throughput performance. Additionally, each Ethernet port has a Port Link Alarm that can be configured to automatically trigger a relay on connection issues to warn of abnormal operating conditions and ensure quick resolution to network issues.

“The ES7106-VB is an excellent solution for transportation security, industrial applications, and IT environments where the ease-of-use and reliability of ‘drop-in’ PoE connectivity is essential,” says Bradford Beale, President at Comtrol. “The addition of the voltage boost technology built into the ES7106-VB allows for a wider choice of power sources, making the switch particularly well suited for IP camera integration within mobile applications such as mass transit and law enforcement.”

Along with advanced PoE and networking capabilities, the ES7106-VB is designed for reliable deployment in harsh conditions, with advanced features including redundant power inputs, port alarms, and an IP30-rated industrial aluminum housing. The wide operating temperature range extends deployment possibilities to places such as mass transit vehicles, factories, and outdoor settings not possible with standard-grade IT products.
