Arecont Vision WDR Technology

Arecont Vision announced today that their true Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology is now available in three different camera series. The MegaDome 2 WDR, MegaBall WDR and MegaVideo Compact WDR cameras are all on display at CeBIT, Hall 13, Stand C57.

Arecont Vision WDR cameras are available in resolutions of 1080p and 3-megapixels. The company’s WDR technology delivers a dynamic range of up to 100dB at full resolution and without lowering the frame rates. By combining long and short exposures in the same field-of-view, WDR maximizes the amount of detail in both bright and dark areas of a scene. The WDR performance of Arecont Vision cameras represents an up to 50dB improvement (300X) in dynamic range compared to non-WDR cameras.

“Wide dynamic range is a highly sought-after capability in the European security market,” said, Vice President of EMEA Sales at Arecont Vision, Peter McKee. “These WDR models expand the usefulness of our megapixel technology by making it possible to capture sharp images in scenes with challenging lighting conditions, such as the lobby of an office building or the loading dock at a distribution facility.”

Arecont Vision megapixel technology delivers superior image quality and reduces overall system costs by covering larger areas with fewer cameras. WDR complements the other features of MegaDome 2, MegaBall and MegaVideo cameras including a dual H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10) and MJPEG encoder, fast frame rates, on-camera privacy masking and 1024-zone motion detection. The cameras are ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) and PSIA (Physical Security Interoperability Alliance) conformant.

I have been looking forward to this year’s GSX show in New Orleans, the Cresent City, or if you prefer The Big Easy. It seems like quite a while since we’ve been here. Twenty years ago, ASIS, as it was known then was literally washed out of the city by someone known as Katrina. It is a good thing to come back to NOLA. Read Now

Security Operations Centers (SOC) were once defined by rows of static monitors, each displaying a single feed with operators quietly watching for issues. That model has become obsolete. Incidents evolve too quickly, data comes from multiple locations, and decisions must be made in seconds—not minutes. Read Now
