Apple iPhone 5S Fingerprint Scanner to Incorporate Sapphire Crystal

Apple iPhone 5S Fingerprint Scanner to Incorporate Sapphire Crystal

I found out some interesting Apple iPhone news this morning about the iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner! Not only is the iPhone 5S supposed to debut on September 10, but seems that Apple is going to make the iPhone 5S’s home button from scratch-proof sapphire crystal, so it can double as a fingerprint sensor.

Apple iPhone 5S Fingerprint Scanner to Incorporate Sapphire CrystalFun, high-tech stuff, right?

Ming-Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst, said that it’s a sensible switch from plastic to sapphire crystal for the iPhone's home button/fingerprint sensor, so it doesn’t get damaged.

Besides that, Apple has already experimented with the crystal. Have an iPhone 5? Well, the material that protects your phone’s rear camera is…you guessed it, sapphire crystal.

Also interesting:

Rumor #1 - Apple will only produce 3-4 million iPhone 5S units, rather than 10 million, because the fingerprint sensor is complicated to produce.

Rumor #2 – A low-budget iPhone 5C will be produced. The “C” represents the word “color,” because buyers will be able to purchase a budget iPhone in a variety of colors.

Hmmm, wonder if Apple is going to allow Siri to stick around? Guess we’ll see next month.
